feren OS 2016.2 RC Released - Next ISO, 2016.2 Stable

Today marks the release of the RC of feren OS's best version yet, 2016.2. Many things have been improved in this RC from 2016.2 BETA and it means we're one step from Stable. Now is more important than ever to report any bugs you find through the 'Send Feedback' Application as we've already fixed most of the bugs we've found in BETA this time around.

Changes from 2016.2 BETA:

  • BETA has been replaced with RC
  • All the latest packages and updates have been installed into the RC
  • FIXED every bug except one which needs GTK Theme reconstruction to fix
  • The Live CD Boot Screen now shows a USB icon with blue dots underneath it
  • feren OS's boot screen has been moved to it's own respective folder to keep it from being reset to Linux Mint's boot screen theme
  • feren OS's (installed system) boot screen is now black with a white logo to look nicer and to reduce eye strain
  • Vivaldi is now on 1.3 Stable and now has it's own themes for feren OS GTK Unification with the browser
  • Speed Dial Thumbnails in Vivaldi have been changed to their respective defaults with Vivaldi Community now sporting an animated tile and the feren websites having their own tile images
  • Some added miscellaneous applications
  • Variety is now on 1.6.2 (New mode: Safe Mode)
  • New Application: PlayOnLinux
  • New Application: Steam
  • feren Cinnamon theme: Applets now have a flattened hover effect
  • Mint Sources now has feren OS icons on its sections
  • Mint Backup also now sports feren OS icons in it
  • Some more new stuff I forgot about...

Known Bugs:

  • GTK: Dark Themes have disappearing GTK3 items at random times of theme use (REQUIRES GTK THEME RECONSTRUCTION, WILL BE DONE IN 2017.0)
  • Annoyingly, any updates to Mint tools will reset their artwork to Mint Defaults, I'm currently trying to get a dummy package to make and then work inside a repository of mine so that I can then follow that model to make packages for feren OS apps, etc, and that might even end up in making feren OS Rolling Release some time afterwards... (Not to be fixed anytime soon (Because doing that dummy package is proving to be a pain to get working) and doesn't affect anything other than changing some icons back to the ones you'll see in Linux Mint 18...)

  • New Video Wallpaper Application (experimental)
  • EVERY theme has a preview with it (Apart from Adapta (fix coming soon))
  • This version of feren OS DOES work in a Virtual Machine again
  • more...

Known Bugs:

  • Themer: Windows XP Silver and Olive Green missing theme set(s)
  • Themer: Arc missing icon set
  • Icon Sets: Icons not downloaded until installed system is booted and then the user logs in, if they haven't got a config before the installation
  • Themer: Numix Frost missing Theme Set(s)
  • Some PPAs missing from the ALPHA
  • XnRetro Application missing
  • Software doesn't install applications on the LiveCD (GNOME Software Bug)

feren OS 2016.1 Lucid is now available to download

30/5/2016

Comments

Yes, after 1 week of delay no thanks to a installation-preventing bug, feren OS 2016.1 is now Stable for real. This is the first properly stable version we've built with it's predecessor 2015.X, having a Wireless WiFi issue no longer present in the 2016.X series.
