New features planned for feren OS 2016.2A new base Operating System: You heard right, we're switching from stock Ubuntu to Linux Mint where everything you see is where the Cinnamon DE originated from and also it'll be in time for the reveal of the new theme coming to Linux Mint 18. Automatic Updates: feren OS 2016.2 will be the first ever feren OS version to feature automatic updates by default, and thanks to the fact it's there in Linux Mint as an option, it's a lot easier to do it... An upgrade path for feren OS 2016.1 users: Yep, that's also right, we'll be developing a script as time goes by to make an easy to do upgrade to feren OS 2016.2 (just as long as core Linux Mint packages want to install that is...) A new set of colour options for Windows 7 Aero Metacity: A new update is coming to the Aero theme with new colours including Pink, Grey and Orange in 2016.2... A major update to Inspire icon set's App Icons: 2016.2 will introduce a new major update to the icon set of feren OS including added gradients to many flat icons, improving existing icons and making it look more awesome. Themer will finally be able to move your panel (maybe): Themer will gain the ability to move the panel to the top or the bottom of your screen automatically for the first time ever on later Cinnamon versions, it was originally able to but later Cinnamon versions 'deprecated' the settings that it used to change... UPDATE: Due to the way Cinnamon does these now, we may not be fully able to give Themer that feature... More Windows XP Themes: Thanks to the community, I can announce 2 new themes coming to 2016.2, Windows XP Embedded and Windows XP Zune are making an appearance in feren OS. Better video wallpaper integration with an Application Menu Launcher: There will be new VIDEO backgrounds off of Pixabay licensed on CC0 Public Domain (Free for ANY type of use (including Commercial)) and a XWinWrap-powered Video Wallpaper Application will be added to the launcher for ease of use, though it will be a lot simpler than Zorin Background Plus for now being just an open dialog and then your selected video, also, if you enable Desktop Icons, they'll be overlapped by the wallpaper... Adapta GTK Theme: If you haven't yet heard of Adapta, give it a try, seriously, especially if you love Material Design. This GTK Theme takes GTK to the next level with animations on buttons, Material Design gradients, and the whole lot of guidelines, and combined with Paper icon set, it truly looks amazing... More coming soon! feren |
