This Year in feren OS - 2017

It's that time of the year again, y'know, the end of the year... Anyways, time to recap what happened feren-wise. Though, I can tell you now, boy was this a good year for feren OS so far.

1. feren OS 2017.0

While 2016.2 was a great release of its own, it came and allowed people to highlight the issues they had with the OS at that point. However, when it came to making a 2017 feren OS Version, 2017.0's main focus was with the feedback for the previous feren OS version, and combined with the Mint 18.1 base, this release got increasingly popular quite fast, and it was the first version to see other news sources mention feren OS with.

2. I announced the plan to eventually be a Rolling Release

Yep, after I managed to make a PPA for feren OS (Launchpad was being a pain when I tried that), I announced the plan for feren OS to become a Rolling Release Distribution based on Mint or Ubuntu.

3. feren OS Snapshots

In a way, you could say this is the last feren OS Version, as such, (excluding spin-off editions) but feren OS 2017 Snapshot was released to the Public, and like 2017.0, it got plenty of Media Attention, as well as getting constantly improved upon, via the Update Manager that Mint supplies. Overall, this release was a great one, and it's much simpler now to add improvements to the OS from this point forward.

4. feren OS <> Windows Transfer Tool

Something rather unique-ish. I decided to make a Transfer Tool for Windows and feren OS, that lets you transfer data and some settings between the two OSs, and I did a pretty good job on it, if you're wanting to move anyone from Windows to feren OS, be sure to give them this program on their Windows Install:

5. 100,000

Thanks to all the feren OS Community, for spreading the word, and so on, about feren OS, we all made feren OS hit a milestone of 100,000 Total Downloads across all the ISOs of feren OS that are on the SourceForge Download Page. Thank You.

6. A New Themer, to provide a glimpse into feren OS's future DE plan for Themer

These days, feren OS has received an upgrade, that means that after updating, Themer is now a part of Themes. As well as this, there's the added bonus of now being able to make and use Custom Themer Themes from the Themes section of System Settings.

Conclusion

Overall, 2017 was a great year for feren OS, and with the new Homecoming Project (move feren OS to Ubuntu based), and the soon-to-come Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, things are looking great for feren OS.
